Improving Shadow DPS

Hi Folks

As the title suggests I need some advice on increasing my shadow priest DPS. My stats:

SP: 2589
Hit: 305
Crit: 16,57%
Haste: 655 (19,98%)

I'm doing about 4k dps on the dummy without Shadowfiend. But I keep getting told that I should be doing more dps with my gear. Now my question is, is that really true.

Does the priest have some must have stats - except for the hitcap of course? Does one need more than 20% crit or more than 700 haste for example?

Last but not least can anyone point me to an added that combines SP and Haste? I only know an added that just displays the raw stats increase.

Ohh and is there buff food specificially tailored for the shadow priest or is there just SP food?
